DC Comics appears to be striving for a leading market position in the burgeoning field of comic book adaptations of popular video games. Already the home of World of Warcraft and PROTOTYPE comic books, DC’s WildStorm imprint will soon bring us an adaptation of Gears of War.
While details on the comic – such as whether it will be an ongoing title or a limited series – have not been revealed, it’s currently planned to launch this October.
Epic Games president Dr. Michael Capps is relishing this opportunity to promote his franchise in the lead up to the launch of Gears 2. “We are thrilled to be working with DC Comics to further bring to life the Gears of War universe. A lot of our developers are huge comic fans, and have loved the personas and chronicles unique to DC Comics since childhood. The Gears of War storyline and characters that millions of gamers have come to cherish will be a perfect fit under the WildStorm imprint.”
