Screenplay has recently held an interview with Nintendo Australia’s managing director, Rose Lappin. The wide-ranging interview covers topics like Nintendo’s current market dominance, the quality of third party games for Wii, cracked DS consoles, Club Nintendo, the delays to Super Smash Bros Brawl, environmental concerns, girl gamers and why Wii Fit is a bigger game than Grand Theft Auto IV.
Ms Lappin even responds to Michael Ephraim’s now-famous accusation that the Wii is "pricey"…
Interview excerpt below:
"Q: Sony’s Michael Ephraim famously described the Wii in Screen Play as "pricey"…
A: He said it was pricey? Expensive? Maybe he didn’t tell the consumers that because they seem to think its fine. Look, Michael’s always got an opinion. Let’s put it straight. I tend not to have something to say about the opposition, I’m very busy driving the Nintendo business. But for whatever reason Michael had that opinion, the consumer doesn’t feel that way because they are certainly coming in droves. "
