Two new Xeons launching in Q3 - Up to 16MB cache for quad-cores

Fudzilla reports:

”We have already reported that Intel plans to launch two six -ore Xeons that will fit to Caneland multi-CPU platforms. Caneland platform can cope with up to four CPUs and if you plug four Dunningtons you will end up with an impressive 24 cores, and all cores are Core 2-based.

Even if you use four quad-cores you will end up with a nice number of 16 cores that should be enough for some nasty tasks.

The new Xeon are supposed to launch in Q3 and the faster of the multi-socket quad-cores will work at 2.4GHz. It is branded as Xeon E7440, has 16MB of cache and uses FSB 1066MHz. It will cost $1,924 at launch.”
